7 common symptoms and their root causes

What exactly is the gut and how is it related to the daily health issues that you experience?

It is excepted that being tired in the afternoon, hating mornings, being a night person who functions better after 10pm, loving sweet foods, needing coffee to function…etc are just normal parts of life.  This might be how your day to day life goes but it should not be normal.  Here’s a quick overview of the roots to these common health issues.

1.Getting dizzy when you stand up -  This is a classic sign of adrenal fatigue.  Your adrenals are in charge of your blood pressure for the few minutes of transition time between sitting, laying down or crouching and standing up.  If you're adrenals are tired the transition of blood pressure is a not a smooth one and you get dizzy.

Warning: Tired adrenals is a sign that your body not digesting enough nutrients to support this important gland, chronic stress, blood sugar imbalances and many more problems that throw the body out of whack.

2. Tired when you wake up - A few causes for this could be: Lack of appropriate hormones in the morning, thyroid issues, adrenal fatigue, stress, food allergies or sensitivities.

Warning:  If you are keeping a schedule, going to bed on time and getting at least 7 hours of sleep but are still tired you will want to examine the possibilities of having any of the above conditions.  All of the causes listed above can lead to more serious health issues and being tired right after sleeping soon won't be the only thing you have to complain about.

3. Night person - This is commonly related to adrenal fatigue.  Tired adrenals can frequently be 'switched' which means they are secreting the hormones that wake you up, at night time instead of the morning.  Adrenals spike at different times of the day, if you are tired all day but are suddenly awake around 9 or 10 o’clock you know that your night life is adrenal fatigue related.

Warning:  Being more awake at the night time and ready to function might not bug you; this may be your productive time or the time at which all your friends and family are ready to hang out.  The danger is that we were not designed to function at night in the absence of light.  It's important to be awake during the day as the sunlight naturally sets healthy rhythms in the body.  Functioning primarily at night messes up the body's rhythms throwing off hormones and also limits the time you spend in the sun getting vitamin D.

4. Constipation - A sign the body is not absorbing enough nutrients and is therefore holding onto stools as to try to absorb every last bit from the food you eat.

Warning:  There are many deep root issues that might cause your body to become malnourished.  Not absorbing nutrients is no game, it will deeply effect you in one way or another. Waste products stuck in your body too long will allow toxins to reabsorb into your body which will only make you more sick.

5. White spots on your finger nails - Zinc deficiency

Warning:  Zinc is needed to make stomach acid which is needed to digest food. Other functions zinc is involved in are, male fertility, immune system, sense of smell and taste, supports liver health, and helps muscles grow and repair.

6. Heartburn - Most commonly caused by low stomach acid. Very few cases of heartburn are actually caused by too much acid.

Warning: An appropriate amount of stomach acid is needed in the body for breaking down food in your stomach.  Without the right amount of acid, food won't be broken down and your digestive system will hesitate to let the food continue on it's route.  In the small intestine, undigested proteins can damage the intestinal walls causing leaky gut.

7. Food allergies -  Caused by small holes poked in the lining of the small intestine where proteins, from food, leak out into the blood forcing the body to produce an immune response and attack the foreign substance.

Warning:  The small intestine is where you absorb nutrients. If the lining of the intestines are damaged they are not in good shape for absorbing what you eat.  You could be eating the most perfect diet and hardly absorbing any of it.  The immune response generated from eating foods you are allergic to will create a chronic stress response if foods are repeatedly eaten.  When a stress response occurs, the hormone cortisol is released. Excess amounts of cortisol can actually lead to more holes being poked in the small intestine, which will perpetuate this catastrophe.

Do you ever experience occasional heartburn?  Tired days, sugar cravings, mysterious pain, hunger that makes you irritable etc…?  Don't just accept these things as normal, take these warning your body is giving you as a sign that your gut needs some support and healing.

  • All these symptoms come from a body that is out of balance and isn't functioning properly due to poor diets, chronic stress, environmental stressors, and many other factors.

Take action now before your symptoms turn into something worse.
